Content creator Alexander `VooDooSh` Shalchinov recently shared his perspective on the current state of the streaming industry. Speaking during a broadcast on Twitch, he observed that the conditions for content creators are progressively worsening.
Responding to a comment from a viewer who recalled his past successes, such as subscription races and breaking records on Twitch, VooDooSh reminisced about earlier times. He spoke of days when he had 12,000 concurrent viewers playing `Heroes` or even 40,000 when streaming with fellow personality Papich. “Those were the days, friend,” he said, adding that now there`s little recourse but to express helplessness.
He stated his firm conviction: “The best times for streaming are definitely over, 100%.” VooDooSh elaborated that the boom experienced during the coronavirus pandemic has passed. Now, he feels that no matter how you look at it, streamers constantly encounter endless problems and restrictions. These issues, he noted, are pervasive and affect all levels – from content creation itself to taxes and everything in between. He described the situation as one where “wherever you point, it`s just bad news, really,” adding that he couldn`t even remember the last piece of genuinely positive news. He concluded that “every aspect of streaming is being stifled at all levels.”
In related news, users of the Twitch platform in Russia recently lost the capability to view broadcasts in original quality. According to a statement from Twitch technical support, this decision was made for economic reasons. Despite this change, the company does not intend to completely exit the Russian market, a point affirmed by Twitch CEO Dan Clancy.
