Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon, a member of the Tundra Esports Dota 2 roster, discussed the reasons behind his team`s defeat on the second map in their match against Team Tidebound at PGL Wallachia Season 4. In an interview with the tournament organizers, he stated that the team stopped respecting their opponent after gaining an advantage, which ultimately led to the loss.
I feel like we just gave the game away. We were winning in the early and mid-game of the second map, and then we just disrespected them because we had an advantage. I think Chinese teams are really disciplined with buybacks and highground plays.
Recall that Tundra and Tidebound faced off in the lower bracket of the PGL Wallachia S4 playoffs. On the second map of the series, Whitemon`s team held an approximate 20,000 gold lead but ultimately lost to their opponent.
PGL Wallachia S4 took place from April 19 to 27 as a LAN event in Romania. Participants competed for a one-million-dollar prize pool. In the grand final, Team Liquid defeated PARIVISION 3-2 and earned $300,000.
