British actress Emma Mackey is set to portray the iconic villain, the White Witch, in Netflix`s forthcoming adaptation of C.S. Lewis`s beloved fantasy series, “The Chronicles of Narnia.”
Mackey is widely recognized for her starring role as Maeve Wiley in the hit series “Sex Education.” She also recently appeared in Greta Gerwig`s acclaimed film “Barbie,” where she played the character known as Physicist Barbie.
It is reported that Netflix has chosen to adapt the sixth book in the series, titled “The Magician`s Nephew.” This prequel features the White Witch, also identified by the name Jadis, much like her prominent appearance in the first published book, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” In the previous film adaptations produced by Disney, the role of the White Witch was memorably played by Tilda Swinton.
“The Chronicles of Narnia” is a classic fantasy book series by C.S. Lewis. The narrative centers on children from the real world who stumble into the magical realm of Narnia, where they ally with the wise and powerful lion Aslan to combat evil forces.
