Windows 11 Gains Taskbar Option to End Processes

Microsoft has introduced a convenient new capability in Windows 11, allowing users to terminate running applications or processes directly from the taskbar. This eliminates the previous requirement of needing to open the Task Manager to perform this action. This direct taskbar option was not available in prior versions of the operating system.

However, this feature is not enabled by default. To activate it, users must navigate through the system settings. The steps involve going to “Settings,” selecting the “System” section, then choosing “For Developers,” and finally toggling the switch next to the “End Task” option to the on position. Once activated, a simple right-click on a process icon in the taskbar will reveal an “End Task” entry in the context menu. Selecting this option will immediately terminate the selected process, functioning identically to the `End Task` command found within the full Task Manager application.
