He proposed that his dad play through the first Dark Souls game with the goal of proving that video games are not merely a waste of time. The YouTuber documented his father`s progress and eventual success in a video posted on YouTube.
According to Babe1Babe2, his father had a restrictive view on gaming during his childhood, allowing him only an hour of play per day, under the belief that video games were a useless activity that dulled the mind. Years later, the content creator sought to alter his father`s perception by presenting the challenge: the 69-year-old man was tasked with completing Dark Souls. This formidable undertaking took his father 9 months and involved enduring over 1,400 in-game deaths. He even streamed his gameplay sessions alongside his son on Twitch.
Ultimately, the father`s attitude towards gaming shifted well before he even reached the infamous Ornstein and Smough boss fight, at which point he confessed that the game felt “more engaging than anything else” he had experienced. After successfully finishing Dark Souls, the retiree shared that his primary motivation for accepting the challenge was a desire to feel closer to his son. He conveyed his feelings to his son, saying, “If you want to be close to someone, you don`t just do what *you* want, you do what *they* like. When you suggested this to me, I was deeply touched. I never thought you`d do something like this, considering what an anti-gamer I used to be.”
Following this achievement, the 69-year-old even attempted to convince his wife to try playing Dark Souls herself. Now, Babe1Babe2`s father has continued his gaming journey and has begun playing Elden Ring.
