Zonic After IEM Melbourne 2025 Final Loss: “The Goal is to Dethrone Team Vitality. It Didn’t Happen This Time”

Team Falcons CS2 coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen explained why his team couldn`t secure the win against Team Vitality on the fifth map of the IEM Melbourne 2025 grand final. He shared his thoughts in a post-match interview.

At one point, ZywOo had a round that somehow… I wouldn`t say it ruined our mood or anything. But I`ve worked with this guy, and sometimes he just has those rounds.

By the end of Nuke, I realized our playbook wasn`t sufficient. We didn`t have enough prepared ideas with m0NESY, as I`ve mentioned several times before.

According to zonic, the outcome is still a respectable one. To unlock their full potential, the team requires more time to develop strategies and refine their execution with Ilya “m0NESy” Osipov.

Obviously, there are many positives. It`s difficult to highlight them right now because we are a bit disappointed, but overall, for having trained for just one day, we worked well. Nobody was sitting around relaxing in practice. If we hadn`t had a match scheduled, we would have been working on strategies and practicing them with m0NESY.

The goal is to dethrone Team Vitality. It didn`t happen this time. I also want to take this opportunity to congratulate them; I know how hard they work, they are amazing players. We need a bit more time if we want to beat a team like that, but I`m very proud of how close we were.

IEM Melbourne 2025 took place from April 21-27 in Australia. Teams competed for a $300,000 prize pool. In the grand final, Falcons were defeated by Vitality with a score of 2:3.
